Monty’s groomer, Markie, does an exceptional job grooming our Standard Poodle. She is a relatively new groomer for my dog, but she does such a wonderful job on his cut. Having a standard poodle, I am very very picky about his cut being careful that his topknot, his feet, and his face are quality standard poodle looks. He always looks great and they have recently added teeth brushing. I would not take my dog anywhere else. She is spectacular!

Bark & Bone has an amazing variety of super high quality foods for dogs. They are locally owned and their staff is very friendly. We have had a few different groomers and all have done a great job with our dogs’ thick coats.

Having a double coated sheltie, it is difficult to find a groomer experienced in properly trimming and thinning out a hairy dog. When calling Bark & Bone, they knew the perfect groomer for our dog. I couldn’t be more pleased with Izzy’s grooming session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which service is right for my dog?+
It depends on your pup's coat and what they need most. Our Bath & Brush is perfect for short-hair breeds (like Pugs), double-coated breeds that don't need a haircut (Huskies, Goldens), or as a refresh between Premium Grooms for long-hair pups (Shih Tzus, Doodles). Our Premium Groom is the right call for long and curly coats that need styling (Shih Tzus, Doodles) and for double-coated breeds wanting a full body trim (Golden Retrievers). Still not sure? Book online and our team will help you decide at your appointment.
How do I book an appointment?+
The easiest way is online β€” just hit the "Book Your Appointment" button on this page to see availability and choose your service in a few taps. If you'd rather talk it through first, give us a call or reach us at westcarmel@barkandbone.com. We're appointment-only, so every dog gets the time and attention they deserve β€” no waiting room chaos.
How long will my dog's appointment take?+
Our goal is to get your pup looking their best as smoothly as possible β€” but we never rush it. For a first appointment, plan on 3–4 hours. That gives our groomer time to get to know your dog, understand their coat, and make sure they're comfortable start to finish. Senior dogs and anxious pups may need a little extra time for breaks along the way. We'll text you when they're ready so you're not stuck waiting around.
What should I expect at my dog's first appointment?+
When you arrive, you'll check in and meet your groomer face-to-face. You'll have time to share your goals for your pup, ask any questions, and let us know anything we should be aware of. We'll take it from there β€” and keep you in the loop. When your dog is ready, you'll get a text plus a report card with before-and-after photos and a note on how they did. First visits are always special, and we love making them a great experience.
When can I bring my puppy in for their first groom?+
Puppies can start grooming appointments as soon as they've had their rabies vaccine β€” typically around 16 weeks. We love early visits because they build positive associations with grooming that last a lifetime and genuinely make a difference down the road. Not quite there yet? Bring them in anytime for some free treats and a chance to explore the shop. Getting comfortable with the sights and sounds early is half the battle.
What vaccinations are required?+
We require an up-to-date rabies vaccination for every dog in our care β€” it's the one non-negotiable, and it protects our team and every pup that comes through our doors. We also use a veterinary-grade disinfectant throughout the salon between appointments, so you can feel confident about the environment your dog is walking into.
My dog is anxious at the groomer. Can you still help them?+
Absolutely β€” anxious dogs are some of our favorites to work with. Our team is patient and caring, and we take our time with dogs who need a little extra grace. We build in breaks, move at their pace, and focus on making the long-term experience a positive one β€” not just getting through today's appointment. For dogs with more significant anxiety, we also offer calming chews to help take the edge off. In rare cases, we may stop a groom early if it's the right call for your pup. Their comfort always comes first.
What if my dog's coat is matted?+
We have specialized tools to work through matting and will do our best to address it. For spot matting, we can often work through it without issue. For more severe cases, brushing mats out can be genuinely painful for dogs β€” in those situations, shaving is the kindest option, even if it's not the look you had in mind. Depending on the severity, there may be an additional dematting fee. Either way, your groomer will always talk with you before making any decisions.
Why might my price differ from the guide above?+
The pricing guide above is a solid starting point, but every dog is a little different. Final pricing is based on coat type, coat condition, and temperament β€” all of which affect how much time and care the appointment requires. Dogs with longer gaps between grooms or coats that need extra attention may be priced accordingly. We'll always be upfront with you if anything changes.
How often should I bring my dog in?+
It depends on the coat. Long-hair breeds do best with monthly appointments to keep their coat healthy and tangle-free. Double-coat and short-hair breeds are typically great on a 6–8 week schedule. Regular visits also mean shorter, easier appointments over time β€” for your dog and your wallet. Not sure what's right for your pup? Ask us at your first visit and we'll help build a schedule that makes sense.
